Thanks, Martin. Just to know that we can request that our present project be opened on Puhti is a great first start.

Dear Joakim,

You did not miss anything, the NLPL stack is not yet available in Puhti. We actually just had an infrastructure meeting today where we wondered how to migrate to the new system. In any case you can login to the new my.csc.fi portal and request that your present project on Taito be opened on Puhti. Before the SW/data stack is ported you will not benefit from /proj/nlpl, though.

Martin

Hi Martin,

Sorry if I missed this, but can we apply for resources on the new cluster under the auspices of NLPL, or is this only for Finnish researchers?

Best,
Joakim

Supercomputer Puhti is now available!

CSCs new supercomputer Puhti is now available for researchers, as the first part of the CSC’s new computing and data management environment. This Atos BullSequana X400 system supports a wide range of workloads, including simulations, high-throughput workflows, data analysis and deep learning. It contains 682 CPU nodes, and 80 GPU nodes. See https://docs.csc.fi/#computing/system/ for full specifications

To get access, you should first add Puhti access to your project in the new my.csc.fi customer portal. Instructions are available at https://research.csc.fi/changes-to-users. Please note that after activating Puhti in my.csc.fi, there is a delay of up to a few hours before ssh access is enabled to puhti.csc.fi.

Software environment, billing model, and storage areas have changed since Taito & Sisu. See https://docs.csc.fi/ for user guide documentation and https://research.csc.fi/changes-to-users for information on some of the main changes.

Taito and Sisu users are encouraged to prepare to move their workloads to Puhti, since Taito will be decommissioned by the end of the year. Puhti already includes a range of pre-installed software, and the list is being expanded, but some Taito software may be missing at the moment. When Allas storage service is opened in September, support and documentation for migrating large amounts of data from Taito will be in place.
