dear yves and joerg,

there are several files below '/proj/nlpl/' on Taito that the nightly
back-up scripts (which need to run as user 'oe') cannot read; see
below.  besides incomplete back-ups, this also means that the nightly
cron(8) jobs generates unnecessary email notifications to the
infrastructure task force (which i worry might get people into the bad
habit of not looking at those messages :-).  could you fix the
permissions so that everything is at least group readable, i.e. both
of you try running something like

  chmod -R g+rX /proj/nlpl/software

even if starting from the top-level 'software/' directory may seem
overly generous, i expect the above will only have an effect on
sub-directories that you either own or have write permission to.
