hi jörg and yves,

could one of you fix the permissions on the mttools module; see below?  the
nightly scripts decide whether to generate an email or not based on the
number of lines in the log file, so an extra warning about file permissions
causes the infrastructure task force unnecessary email.

also, regarding version numbers.  for my semi-automated creation of python
modules, i landed on version strings like 201901 or 20190111 (if versioning
by day really is required, which should rarely be the case) if there is no
other natural version identity (from a source release) otherwise.  could we
standardize on that?
