hi thierry and gard,
our NeIC-funded NLPL project has been installing software and data in
parallel on both Abel and the finnish Taito system. we are beginning
to see actual use of these resources now, so there is an emergent NLPL
user community from denmark, finland, norway, and sweden.
to give users a semblance of uniformity across the two systems, we
have established our shared collection of modules and data resources
in ‘/projects/nlpl/’ on both systems and are now starting to
automatically replicate parts of this directory between Abel, Taito,
and NIRD.
but we are running into space limitation on the project directory.
‘/projects/nlpl/’ on Abel currently is limited to one terabyte,
whereas CSC has been generous and provided us with an allocation of 25
terabyes. we are still working out our data management strategy, with
NIRD as the ‘master’ repository and relevant sub-sets of the data
local on Abel and Taito.
could you increase our allocation for ‘/projects/nlpl/’ on Abel to,
say, five terabytes? the project will likely migrate to Fram towards
the end of this year anyway, where i understand the NIRD storage will
be directly visible; hence, being able to keep a somewhat larger set
of resources (that many project members use regularly) local on Abel
for now would greatly simplify our work until the actual migration ...
with thanks in advance, oe
