ciao franceca,
thanks for making contact; and apologies for the late reply! i wanted
to discuss expected storage requirements NLPL-internally first; which
we did yesterday. i am copying the NLPL infrastructure task force.
truth be told, i was surprised about the current low usage. i had
assumed we were at around 60 terabytes, which was the count when i
last had looked more closely, about a year ago. when i looked now, it
turns out the colleague who last worked on this project had cleaned up
more aggressively than i think he should have. only the derived data
remains (a very large text corpus extracted from the Common Crawl),
and all intermediary files have been removed. alas. we can reproduce
them, should that turn out necessary ...
so, no technical difficulties, just poor project-internal communication.
looking ahead, our NeIC-funded NLPL project is gaining momentum, and
this NIRD project will take on a more central role in NLPL in the
months to come. nevertheless, our current estimate is more
conservative than what i had once anticipated: we expect our storage
needs throughout 2018 will not exceed 60 terabytes. could you adjust
my original application for NS9052K accordingly?
also, on a bookkeeping note: is there an easy way to change the
project title to ‘NLPL: Nordic Language Processing Laboratory’, so
that the association to our NeIC grant is more transparent?
with thanks in advance, oe

The quota for this project is 90TiB in 2017.2, thus indicating that the quota has been strongly underused. Did you encounter any technical problem that prevent you from using properly the allocated quota? In that case, please let us know and we will try to support you.

Please notice that the RFK committee (that will evaluate the application for 2018.1) will have to take into consideration the usage in the former periods. This means that the requested quota might be reduced.
